1. I Want You Now Lyrics. Photography David LaChapelle.

Liza Minnelli's career as a recording artist essentially lapsed after the commercial failure of her 1977 album Tropical Nights, but recording was never one of her real priorities, taking a back seat to her work as a live performer and film star

Liza Minnelli (album). Unlike the songs and performances she is today mostly known for, when Minnelli recorded her three studio albums for A&M Records, she chose to pick her songs by late '60s and early '70s pop/rock and singer/songwriters. The main inspiration for this change in direction were Peter Allen (the singer's husband at the time) and producer Larry Marks. They were both very fond of Randy Newman, the artist who is the most prominent composer on this collection. The overall mood of this album is somewhat quirky

The "Don´t Drop Bombs" promo video included here is a different version from the previously released video on the 2005 CD+DVD re-issue. They´re very similar, but many minor edits and shot changes are present on both versions.
Can anyone who owns this new edition confirm if this still has the glitch at 3:45 mins on track 3?
No, there is no glitch on Track 3 this time. The compilers were obviously aware of that being a problem on the prior reissue
I just received this today and it sounds great to me! I checked the tracks on the regular album CD and I didn't notice any significant drop in volume on Twist in my Sobriety and I was wearing headphones. If there is a difference, it must be relatively minor. The whole package was nicely done! I don't even care about the Disc A, Disc B, etc. I was really wanting something new since the last special edition for results came out in 2004 and there was a glitch on track 3.
It all depends on what we expect from a release like this. To me we deal with low standards of quality here. The outer case is poorly done with a front cover replicated with too much contrast and it manages to be more out of focus than the original cover was. The back of this case simply lists the content with no sense of design or artwork, there's no consistency with the original text font. The individual discs sleeves are made of very thin cardboard and the design is once again below average. The only thing that's been done well is the booklet. But most of all, the audio quality doesn't meet expectations. There is no (re)mastering of any kind. Simply rip the discs in a DAW and you will see that the sound treatment is no way near 2017 mastering standards. When you skip quickly from one track to another with a click of the mouse, it is obvious that "Twist..." is quieter. The Remastered mention on the back of the case is pure misleading publicity. And I won't say anything about the video quality of Disc D...
It seems there are problems with this reissue including the fact that Twist In My Sobriety is substantially quieter than the rest of the album. Can anyone who owns this verify that?
Hi Alistairk. Can you message me please? Want to ask you about some of your Take That CDs you have listed but I can't seem to contact you.Lee xx
No the mixes aren't the same as on previous issue. The Love Pains mixes are much louder/bassier than the one mix that was a bonus track before, just look at the waveforms. Losing My Mind is a bit beefier than when it was a bonus track on previous issue. There's been no proper remastering or use of the tapes. All cobbled together from what was available on CD or vinyl, I think Liza deserved better.
I think this is just a copy of the 2001 album remaster and the remixes haven't been touched at all. The Visible Results disc was re-authored to include the two extra tracks, but I wouldn't really call that "remastering". Cherry Red are terrible at this anyway.
Having read your comments, I didn't think those problems you mention would be that much of a problem... But they are!I compared the sound of CD1 to the original 1989 LP I own, and the sound is far more enjoyable on the latter. "Twist In My Sobriety" is truly quieter on the CD. Such was not the case on the original LP. I really wonder what went wrong.Indeed, Love Pains remixes have excessive bass whereas Losing My Mind remixes on the same CD don't.For a booklet that gives so many credits, I wondered why there was no (re)mastering credit anywhere. Well the answer might be that there is none to look for. The dynamic range of CD1 is in no way near 2017 mastering standards. For me, this release is worth owning for the booklet and its abundant liner notes. And for a few remixes that would be too expensive to get hold of. But the sound quality is a big letdown.
The Love Pains mixes all have excessive bass, very noticeable after the Losing My Mind mixes. There are vinyl rips on CD3, though they are not horrible - the two French fan mixes (as expected) and the percappella. I doubt anything came from master tapes, it was very likely all sourced from existing CDs/vinyl. Nice to have all the mixes in one box set but overall quality is not the best.
Gah, why do Cherry Red releases always have such poor quality control? The other issues being..?
Yes, Twist in My Sobriety is much quieter, it's quite sudden and noticeable. Analysis in audio software confirms this - there is room for about 4dB to be added. It's among quite a few little issues with the release...
